JS 600

Ibanez JS600 Story

The Ibanez JS600 serial production was launched in 1994. Like the JS6000 that had been released the same year, the JS600 replaced the JS6 as a hard-tailJS guitar with its TZ80 fixed bridge. The JS6000 remains closest to the JS6 than the JS600 will ever be, but this guitar was the more affordable model.

On paper the JS600 looks more like a hard-tailed JS100, being Korean made, having Axis Humbuckers 1 & 2, a basswood body and chrome hardware, it’s like a JS100 except for the bridge and the color finishes. The JS neck is made of maple with a rosewood fingerboard inlaid with pearly dots and a “Joe Satriani” inlay at the 21st fret and medium frets.

The comparison is easier with the JS100 because it became a benchmark in the JS series history, but in fact those two guitars were released at the same time. The JS600 serial production was only over a period of one year. Ibanez kept the hard-tail guitar concept in mind and in 1996 the much appreciated JS700 was out and became a must for every JS guitar lover.
