JS 2

Ibanez JS2 Story

The Ibanez JS2, also known as the JS2 CH, is the 2nd JS guitar ever produced. It was introduced in 1990 and it was the first attempt by Ibanez to create a chrome guitar finish that became iconic in Joe’s career. Unfortunately, the chroming process had some issues and this guitar has never been distributed, but it seems that a few fell through the cracks and ended up with some lucky owners.

The body was in American basswood. It sounded a bit more like mahogany compared to the regular basswood and we have a DiMarzio PAF Pro for the neck and a FRED for the bridge like on the JS1 of the period. The tremolo is an original Edge. It has 22 6105 frets and the neck is inlaid with pearly dots.

Only two other chrome guitars were created, the JS10th in 1998 for the celebration of the 10 year collaboration between Satch and Ibanez and the extremely gorgeous JS2PRM in 2005.
